Henny studied Textile Art and Fashion Design at the Utrecht Academy of Fine Arts. After her studies she worked as a Fashion Designer for several Fashion Brands and Retail Companies. Gradually she no longer finds satisfaction in her work as a designer due to the limitation of creative freedom in the fashion Industry. In 2012 she therefore starts drawing and painting again. In 2016 she decided to dedicate herself solely to her art.
I am influenced by The Hague School painters, William Turner, Rembrandt, Monet. and other Impressionists. Especially their depiction of light. Furthermore abstract painters like Zao Wou-ki, Kazuo Shiraga, Franz Kline, Gerhard Richter are greatly admired for their decisive expressionism .
Is defined by her versatility, an artist whose work revolves around themes of space, light, and sky. Her artistic practice encompasses both traditional painting and the creation of digital landscapes. Through her intuitive approach to painting, she offers viewers a glimpse into a diverse inner landscape where the search for silence often takes center stage. While her landscapes do not depict existing places, they are rather a fusion of experiences, memories, and imagination. Henny's semi-abstract style allows for individual interpretation, inviting viewers to engage with the artwork on a personal level. Additionally, her use of light and dark creates a sense of vulnerability within her paintings, adding depth and emotional resonance.
