The Butterfly

Sometimes you see something in a flower that is bigger than just the picture. It will make you take an extra step in showing other people what you have seen. Something that is so different from the original image that it will have just about everybody get the same ‘picture’. That’s the feeling I had when I saw this tulip, the butterfly. It does not happen very often that you get a ‘hanging tulip’ that is just about to open and has no other tulips standing in front of it that can disrupt the image. This was the case with this tulip.

Upon seeing the tulip I immediately had the idea of creating a ‘wing’ of some sort. It wasn’t until I had taken multiple pictures that I immediately saw what the end result was going to be…. A butterfly! I was so happy to have taken a picture of ‘half’ a butterfly.

After having the picture sit om my desktop for about six months I finally decided to mirror the image and create what is now The Butterfly. An eyecatcher indeed.
