Shadow play

The genesis of “Shadow Play” happened within the confines of a studio. Originally, I found myself engrossed in photographing “body scapes” – an exploration of the human form akin to a landscape. However, the dynamic transformed during a pause when Sarah, an established international model, adorned a hat. The resulting effect was striking—a unique shadow cast by a spotlight broke through and danced intriguingly across her body.

Compelled by this unexpected play of light and shadow, I decided to delve deeper. The course wasn’t easy; the positioning of the hands and the accurate placement of the frontal spotlight to perfect the shadow was a formidable challenge.

The key to achieving vignetting and structure lay in digital technology. By utilizing multiple projections and layering images atop one another, an intricate pattern emerged. The end result was a visually engaging composition that defied norms and pushed the boundaries of conventional photography.

In this way, “Shadow Play” came to life—a powerful testament to the spontaneity of creativity, where an experiment turned into an unexpected art of capturing the elusive interplay between light and shadow.
