Hanging art too high is the most common mistake. Use this quick method to nail the height every time—at home or in a gallery setting.

Why 145 cm works

145 cm (57 inches) to the center of the artwork matches natural eye level for most viewers. It keeps a clean line throughout your space.

Step-by-step

  1. Measure 145 cm from the floor and mark a small pencil dot.
  2. Measure your artwork’s center (half of total height).
  3. Measure from the top edge to the hanging point (wire/pigtail).
  4. Nail height = 145 cm + (center) − (wire drop).

Above furniture

  • Sofa/sideboard: artwork width ≈ of furniture width.
  • Leave 15–25 cm gap above the furniture to integrate the piece.

Gallery walls

Keep the center line of the entire composition near 145 cm. Align rows by centers, not by tops/bottoms.
